An attractive, scarce map showing the routes of the important northerly explorations of the above-named explorers, with a five small but dramatic vignettes of striking vistas they encountered. The map highlights the resumption of the English search for a northwest passage in the early decades of the 19th century. It appeared in Wyld's general atlas; a reduced edition was later published by Thomson. James Wyld (Senior) was a renowned English mapmaker, who went on to become Geographer to His Majesty and was a founding member of the Royal Geographic Society.
