Opening of the Iranian Oil Industry
IRANIAN OIL EXPLORATION & PRODUCING COMPANY [Iran (Tehran?), c. 1960]
Perspective Map of the Oil Industry in South West Iran.
9 ¼ x 15 ½ inches
3-color offset print, verso in black. Original folds present with virtually no wear; fine condition.
Fascinating map of the oil producing region of Iran’s Persian Gulf Coast, focusing on the region’s rapidly developing network of pipelines. The map extends from the Iran/Iraq border to Kharg Island. The pipelines help date the map: Kharg Island’s pipeline is shown, which was completed in 1960, while the pipeline to Tehran is shown as incomplete and would not be completed until 1966. The map, whose text is in both English and Farsi, labels airports, railways, roads, rivers, and the refineries and other facilities attached to the pipelines. The map was probably intended as part of a prospectus geared to English or American investors.
