The Heart of the East Indies Trade

Malaysia/ East Indies/ Spice Islands/ Philippines/ Australia. CORONELLI, V. [Venice, 1696]
Isole dell'Indie, divise in Filippine, Molucche, e della Sonda. 17 5/8 x 23 7/8 inches.
Slight offsetting along centerfold, else fine.

This was the best, generally available map of its day of Southeast Asia. Dashed lines show the routes of trading vessels throughout the area, including the route that passed through present day Singapore. The much contended Spice Islands are shown in good detail as is the Philippines. The northern coast of Australia is included. A beautifully preserved example of the map.

Quirino, Philippine Cartography, p. 87.
